Cette chanson "Carnival...", écrite par Tom Springfield (frère de Dusty), des Seekers, groupe australien émigré à Londres, figure, interprétée par Nick Cave sur son album de reprises "Kicking against the pricks".
C'est encore le principe de la reprise qui parcourt le IVème volume de Ball of wax, compilation saisonnière dirigée par Levi Fuller. Il s'agit pour chacun des participants de reprendre un titre appartenant à un autre participant. Ainsi Andrea Maxand éclaire-t-elle le "Sorry" de David Bavas (écoutez les 2 versions sur sothewindblogradio), lui même illuminant le "Watershed" d'Amateur Radio Operator et ainsi de suite... Dans un tel exercice,on sait que le risque est grand, si l'on n'y prend pas garde, d'aboutir à un objet disparate insensé. Je vous rassure immédiatement : Levi Fuller et ses amis évitent ce piège et, bien au contraire, nous offre, dans ce genre, une oeuvre d'une unité et d'une cohérence peu communes. This song "Carnival...", written by Tom Springfield (Dusty's brother), created by The Seekers, an australian band who went to London in midsixties, appears, interpreted by Nick Cave on his covers album "Kicking against the pricks".
It is this principle of the cover which goes through the 4th volume of Ball of wax, the seasonal compilation directed by Levi Fuller. The aim is for each participant to cover a track written by another participant. Thus Andrea Maxand lights up the song "Sorry" originated by David Bavas (listen the 2 version on stwblogradio), himself illuminating the "Watershed" of Amateur Radio Operator and so on... In such an exercise, one knows that the risk is great to lead to a foolish disparate object. I reassure you immediately: Levi Fuller and His friends avoid this trap and, in the contrary, offer to us a work of a not very common unit and coherence in the covers compilations world.
