Des disques qui tiennent au creux de ta main, des pochettes artisanales, des enregistrements "faits maison", une "ambiance familiale" et une taille humaine, autant d'éléments qui m'ont séduit, au printemps 2007, dès mes premiers achats chez 'Rusted Rail', label indépendant basé à Galway, fondé par Keith Wallace, qui a accepté de répondre aux quatre questions du Vent.
Records that you can hold in the palm of your hand... Handmade, homemade, "a family feel" & human-sized, all this I enjoyed when, in spring 2007, I purchased my first releases from Rusted Rail, a music label based in Galway, founded by Keith Wallace, who agreed to answer the four questions in the wind.
1. do you remember your first musical emotion ?
My Dad tells me that when I was a very small child and I used to sing along to "Fernando" by Abba. It's a song I still like so I guess as an infant I must have had some kinda emotional response to it!
2. how did you first get involved in music ?
That question has many answers but the biggest influence was probably becoming involved in college radio via Flirt FM here in Galway, many moons ago. It introduced to many like-minded souls and to the idea of a musical community, interconnected and on the same vibe, that has been highly influential in the way I approach music, be it listening to it, making it or channelling it out into the world.

3. could you tell us a bit about the personalities that touched you the most ?
Musically speaking? Its a long list but some of them would include Tim Buckley, Can, Alice Coltrane, Nirvana, Planxty and all the music on Rusted Rail. Basically any one musician or group of musicians that have a vision and stick to it regardless of the slings and arrows, and who lead by example, letting their music guide us to better places...
4. do you have a 'bedside record', sort of the one you're never tired to listen again and again ?
I have a few bedside records actually.... Brian Eno "Music for Airports", Dirty Three "Whatever You Love You Are", Talk Talk "Laughing Stock", Tim Buckley "Happy Sad" (except for "Gypsy Woman"!) and Can "Future Days" are the ones that spring to mind/that I can see right now.

1. te souviens-tu de ta première émotion musicale ?
Mon père dit que, tout petit, j'avais l'habitude de chanter sur "Fernando" d'Abba. C'est une chanson que j'aime toujours donc je suppose que, chez le petit enfant que j'étais, il doit y avoir eu une sorte de réaction émotionnelle !
2. comment es-tu venu à la musique ?
Cette question a plusieurs réponses, mais la plus grande influence est venue de mon implication dans une radio universitaire, Flirt FM, ici, à Galway, voici de nombreuses années. J'y ai rencontré beaucoup de gens partageant les mêmes vues et s'est ébauchée l'idée d'une communauté musicale, reliée et sur la même longueur d'onde, cela a grandement influé sur ma façon d'aborder la musique, que ce soit l'écouter, la faire ou la transmettre au monde.

3. peux tu nous en dire un peu sur les personnalités qui t'ont le plus marqué ?
Musicalement parlant ? La liste est longue, mais je pense à Tim Buckley, Can, Alice Coltrane, Nirvana, Planxty et à toute la musique publiée sur Rusted Rail. Au fond, tout musicien - ou groupe de musiciens - qui a une vision, qui s'y tient quelles que soient les embûches et qui montre la voie, en nous transportant, à travers sa musique, vers des horizons meilleurs...
4. as tu un 'disque de chevet', le genre que tu écoutes encore et encore ?
j'ai quelques disques de chevet en fait... Brian Eno "Music for Airports", Dirty Three "Whatever You Love You Are", Talk Talk "Laughing Stock", Tim Buckley "Happy Sad" (exception faite de "Gypsy Woman"!) et Can "Future Days" sont ceux qui me viennent à l'esprit à cet instant.
