Dans la boite des cassettes oubliées, il y en a une, jaune, avec Ingrid Caven écrit.
Mais, quand on l'écoute, des groupes anglais pour la plupart mais pas d'Ingrid. Alors ? alors, on se tourne vers la liste, la fameuse, celle des noms et des numéros. Pendant qu'une chanson pleine d'entrain me dit d'aller "m'faire voir ailleurs", je parcours la liste, évite les chiffres et court direct aux noms... Ingrid Caven...voilà. et celle qui va m'intéresser, ce n'est pas cette chanson mais une autre, une avec un point d'interrogation et "half a crown' écrit à côté.
L'énigme du point d'interrogation m'a tenu en échec - moi mais aussi mes contacts - jusqu'en février 2008.
1993. Un jour en mai. Je reçois une cassette jaune. Un ami londonien me l'envoie. Dans la lettre jointe, il m'explique qu'à toutes ses compilations il donne un nom d'actrice. Comme il vient de voir "In a Year with 13 Moons" (L'année des treize lunes), il a appelé celle-ci Ingrid Caven. Je lui dirai, plus tard, que la cassette aurait gagnée à être rouge. En post scriptum, il se désole - un détail - du septième titre, il ne connait que le nom de la chanson. "half a crown". "le nom du groupe est compliqué, à consonance slave ou quelque comme ça" (sic). oo-k.
Une semaine plus tard, je l'ai au téléphone.
"eh dis donc à quoi il ressemble ce nom slave ?"
"Korazed...Kokazede..."
Suivent quinze années de quêtes infructueuses jusqu'à ce jour de février où parurent Swan Fungus et Chorchazade. Gloire leur soit rendue !

In the box of forgotten tapes, there is one, yellow, with Ingrid Caven written.
But when you listen, mostly English bands but no Ingrid. So? you turn to the list, the famous, with names and numbers. While a witty song told me to "go to hell's where", I go through the list, avoiding numbers, directly jumping to names... Ingrid Caven... here I am and the one that will interest me, not that hell song but another, that one with "half a crown 'written next to a question mark. The question mark enigma has kept me lost - me and my contacts - until February 2008.
1993. One day in May. I get a yellow tape. A friend in London sends me. In the accompanying letter, he explains that he gives an actress name to all his compilations. As he freshly saw "In a Year With 13 Moons", he called it Ingrid Caven. I'll tell him later that it would have been better if tape was red. In a postscript, he apologizes - a detail - the seventh track, he only knows the name of the song. "half a crown". "The band name is complicated, Slavic-sounding or something like that" (sic). oo-k.
A week later, I'm with him on phone. Q : "Hey hey how it sounds like, this Slavic name?"
"Korazed Kokazede..." he says.
After fifteen years of fruitless quests, came February 2008, Swan Fungus and Chorchazade. Glory be returned to them!
